Description: Terpolymer sub chassis for AR tables(ES/EB/THE TURNTABLE,etc.) will certainly upgrade the sound of your table tremendously. The unit is manufactured from an advanced Terpolymer plastic which is superior to the Acrylic used in previous versions of the Merrill sub chassis in every way. Acrylic was a good material to use in TT construction 20 years ago but forward thinking in our research to build the perfect TT dictates that we keep away from Acrylic as much as possible. Acrylic, while fine for some applications, is dimensionally unstable, has high creep, machines terribly if you don't use the proper cutters, coolant and speeds, and absorbs moisture in a humid environment. This Terpolymer plastic, however, is dimensionally stable, has virtually no creep, impervious to moisture, very stable across the HZ frequency band, is easy to machine and finishes very nicely. The sub chassis, including the bearing housing, is now manufactured from the same material, unlike the original Merrill unit which uses a dissimilar material for the bearing housing. The concept and overall design is the same, but new manufacturing techniques have brought the unit to a new level of performance and quality. |
