Repair and Service
I truly enjoy restoring these vintage turntables, but before any decisions are made regarding repairs or service, we should discuss what you plan to have done versus the costs and risks of shipping. That process begins with you emailing me with the best time/date to give you a call. As in all my transactions, I will give you frank advice as to what I would do in your shoes and with your budget.
Below is a list of typical services and their cost. These prices do not reflect shipping costs either way. Please keep in mind this cost includes fully unpacking and repacking your turntable.
Finally, I offer the option for you to be shipped (at your cost) original AR or Thorens packaging. Many repair customers, once they realize the cost of a solid box and plenty of bubblewrap, have decided this is the safest option. Watch the videos here to see how easy it is to pack your AR or Thorens in original packing. A small refundable deposit must be paid at time of shipment.
AR and Thorens Service Menu
Service, Tune-up, and General Detailing (No parts included) $95
Service, Tune-up, and Supreme Detailing (No parts included) $125
Mounting and Aligning of New Cartridge (You supply cartridge) $30
Dustcover Buff and Polishing, Five Coats $85
Repair Evaluation (Counts toward repair, if performed) $45
Installation of GEM Upgrade Motor (Motor not included) $85
Installation of new springs and studs/Adjust Suspension (No parts included) $60
Change-Out Tonearm (AR) $125 (No parts included. Does not include XA/XB.)
Change-Out Tonearm (Thorens) $125 (No parts included.)
Please note, I do not re-wire tonearms. Also, I generally do not work on other turntable models besides AR and Thorens unless they are local. It is $20 to evalauate a local non-AR/Thorens turntable.
What service customers have said:
“I just had Dave perform a checkup on my TD160 and it sounds fabulous. I was on the fence with this table and
now that the suspension has been tuned it has become my favorite table. I think Dave does quality work and
once I have the money together I intend to get the arm upgraded by Dave as well.” Shawn M, MA
